Project Accountant - Permanent Role with Leading Defence Sector Firm

Our client, a prominent firm in the defense sector, is actively looking for a Project Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. This critical role will help ensure the financial integrity and efficiency of various projects and programmes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure projects and programmes comply with established financial controls and processes.
  2. Continuously update project performance analyses, helping the Project Management community fully understand project financials.
  3. Apply consistent methodologies across all programmes, particularly in relation to contingency, risk, and milestones.
  4. Support bids by providing financial analysis and contributing financial expertise.
  5. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate billing and transaction application to relevant projects and programmes.
  6. Assist with both external and internal audits, from project overviews to financial reports and reconciliations.
  7. Meet all financial reporting deadlines for transactions and reporting related to projects.
Job Requirements:
  1. Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant with a recognized accountancy qualification.
  2. Previous experience in the defense industry is highly preferred.
  3. Strong coordination and communication skills.
  4. Comfortable engaging with employees at all organizational levels.
  5. Experience with integrated ERP systems handling engineering and manufacturing transactions.
  6. Proven background in programme and project management and understanding of project accounting techniques.
  7. Strong financial modelling skills for bid construction and investment analysis.
  8. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  10. High levels of respect, diplomacy, and tact when dealing with stakeholders.
  11. Resilient, adaptable, and naturally inquisitive.
