We are partnering with an established manufacturer currently recruiting for a Project Accountant base in Braintree, Essex.
The role involves supporting the Telecoms team through strong financial management of multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the finances of telecoms projects, ensuring accurate accounting and timely reporting.
- Support preparation of project budgets, forecasts, and ongoing cost tracking.
- Monitor project expenditures versus budgets and report variances to the Operations team.
- Track project-related expenses to ensure alignment with budgets and contractual terms.
- Help analyse cost trends and provide insights on overruns, savings, or risks.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure proper cost allocation throughout project lifecycles.
- Support calculation and recognition of project revenue per applicable accounting standards.
- Ensure timely project billing and correct revenue recording based on milestones and contracts.
- Maintain accurate project accounting records, including posting invoices, costs, and revenues.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities such as reporting, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Help prepare project financial statements and internal reports for senior management.
- Prepare periodic project reports covering budget vs. actuals, profit and loss, cash flow projections, and key performance indicators.
- Support financial data preparation for internal and external audits related to telecom projects.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and reduce financial risk.
- Manage internal reporting to stakeholders including management, investors, and external bodies.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and external parties to provide financial insights and project status updates.
- Facilitate communication between finance and operations teams to align on project financial goals.
- Assist in resolving project-related financial queries from teams and suppliers.
Skills Required
- Solid understanding of project accounting principles and financial management.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control within project environments.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition standards and billing processes.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting month-end/year-end closings.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate reports.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial software tools.
