Project Accountant

Location: Birmingham Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £36,000-£40,000 Working Pattern: Full Time / Hybrid

Overview:

We are supporting a client in the search for a Project Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, offering a mix of office-based and remote working.This position is ideal for a part qualified accountant looking to take ownership of financial processes across a range of projects. You'll play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, and ensuring financial performance is monitored and communicated effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and manage project financials in line with internal and external requirements.Work with project teams to prepare budgets and monitor financial progress.Track costs, revenues, and margins to ensure financial targets are met.Provide timely and accurate reporting on project performance and financial status.Carry out variance analysis and contribute to monthly reporting cycles.Raise invoices in line with contractual agreements and track payments.Support cash flow forecasting and ensure financial controls are followed.Take part in project planning and review meetings to align financial insight with delivery.

Skills & Experience:

Part Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance role, including project accounting or cost control.Previous exposure to project-based or service-driven environments is preferred.Strong understanding of project finance principles, including revenue recognition and cost tracking.Proficient in Excel and experience with ERP systemsStrong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and good communication skills.Able to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams.
