Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Progressive Pharmacy Technician in Medicines Management on a permanent Band 4-5 contract. The role supports Near Patient Dispensing, patient counselling on steroid management, and service development across the Medicine Care Group.

Qualifications

• Registered pharmacy technician in UK by GPhC or working towards registration within the next six months.
• GCSE Maths and English A* to C or equivalent, or IELTS 7 if overseas candidate.
• Accurate dispensing of medicines (hospital or community/aseptics).
• Maintaining CPD requirements or training portfolio.
• Dealing with customers and/or patients.
• Able to use a range of information technology programmes.
• Able to organise own and others workload and prioritise effectively.
• Able to work antisocial hours, weekends and bank holidays per rota.
• Able to travel to and work at RSH / SGH and other sites if required.

Responsibilities

• Completing medicines reconciliation for patients across medical care groups.
• Supporting ward-level dispensing of discharge medicines (TTOs) to enable timely discharge.
• Counselling patients on both new and ongoing medicines to support safe use and adherence in the community.
