Job summary

Sovereign & Bale is seeking a Progression Advisor to support people facing health, wellbeing or life challenges to progress toward employment and independent living. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, building trusted relationships and coordinating access to occupational therapists, wellbeing specialists and external supports as needed.

Based in Devon with field-based responsibilities across the designated area, the role focuses on personalised coaching, practical employability

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel across a large geographical area.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience managing your own caseload and working independently.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience supporting individuals through coaching, mentoring, employability, wellbeing or related services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and engage participants effectively.
  • Experience delivering one-to-one support and developing personalised action plans.
  • Understanding of the impact that health, wellbeing and life circumstances can have on progression and participation.
  • Knowledge of person-centred support and behaviour change approaches.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Experience delivering outreach or community-based support.
  • Knowledge of local health, wellbeing and community services.
  • Understanding of motivational interviewing, behavioural coaching or strengths-based approaches.
  • Experience within employability, welfare-to-work, employment support or supported employment programmes.
  • Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) experience or qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with participants, creating a safe and supportive environment for change.
  • Deliver personalised, behaviourally informed coaching and support that builds confidence, wellbeing, participation and independence.
  • Assess strengths, aspirations, barriers and support needs, helping participants develop healthy routines, self-management skills and practical coping strategies.
  • Deliver one-to-one wellbeing and progression coaching that builds confidence, resilience, motivation and readiness to engage with opportunities.
  • Facilitate access to community activities, volunteering opportunities, learning and wider support networks.
  • Deliver practical employability support, including CV development, interview preparation, labour market exploration and employment planning where appropriate.
  • Support participants to build confidence using digital technology, including remote working and virtual platforms.
  • Develop and review in-work support plans to support sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialist services when additional support is required.
  • Maintain accurate records and work collaboratively with employers, stakeholders and partner organisations.

Job description

Location: Devon – Field Based. Regular travel throughout the designated area.

Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

The Role

We are looking for a Progression Advisor to join a specialist team delivering an innovative employment and wellbeing service. This is an exciting opportunity to support people whose health conditions, disabilities, wellbeing challenges or life circumstances have affected their confidence, participation and progression.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support participants to build confidence, capability, participation and independence through trusted relationships, personalised support and behaviourally informed coaching.

Unlike traditional employability roles, this position focuses on helping participants make meaningful and sustainable progress at a pace that reflects their individual circumstances. You will help people develop healthy routines, improve wellbeing, build resilience and increase their confidence to participate in their communities and explore future opportunities, including employment where appropriate.

You will be the participant's primary point of contact throughout their journey, building strong relationships over time and coordinating access to specialist Occupational Therapists, Wellbeing Specialists and external support services when required.
