Our vision is for Newcastle to be a great place to grow up – for every child and young person to be safe and loved, healthy and happy, free from harm and with the chance to fulfil their potential. We are excited to be able to recruit exceptional Progressed Social Workers to be part of our important work with the children, young people, and families of the city.
We are now in our fourth year of embedding a relational and restorative practice culture across our service and are looking for motivated, child-centred Progressed Social Workers to join our skilled and passionate workforce. If you want to be part of an organization committed to working with families rather than doing to them, and rated as Good by Ofsted, then Newcastle Children & Families is the place for you.
We are investing in our social work service in Children’s Social Care and are seeking skilled and motivated Progressed Social Workers to join our teams, ensuring a balanced mix of experience.
We are recruiting for the Long-Term Social Work Service, which supports children and families requiring long-term plans, including Child in Need, Child Protection Plans, and Care Proceedings.
We are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children in our city. We seek experienced relational Progressed Social Workers to lead by example and support our work with children and families.
We value being proud, fair, and ambitious in our dedication to children and families. Our teams are primarily based in one office, fostering strong working relationships. We look for team players who prioritize relationships and social work values.
Newcastle offers a city with a rich history and promising future. Working in Children’s Social Care for Newcastle City Council places you at the heart of a city focused on positive outcomes for children and families.
In February 2022, Newcastle Children’s Social Care was rated as GOOD by Ofsted, with positive feedback about support and management.
We are implementing a relational and restorative approach citywide to transform our work with children, families, and partners, emphasizing family-first practices, valuing colleagues, listening to children, and focusing on strengths and values. More details are available on our Safeguarding Partnership website.
Our benefits include:
While having a vehicle is desirable, it is not essential to be a driver.
We are committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults. This role involves regulated activity, requiring additional checks, including criminal record and barred list checks. It is a criminal offence for barred individuals to apply.
