Job description

As our Progress Coordinator, you will develop and manage the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective support service to learners with diverse needs, including physical disabilities, medical conditions, sensory impairments, mental health issues, learning difficulties, and other inclusive requirements, to meet the College's Strategic and Operational objectives.

You will provide a rich and challenging learning experience, acting as the nominated person for referrals from professionals working with the young person. Your responsibilities include assessing individual needs, conducting risk assessments for learners with various disabilities and conditions, and disseminating information appropriately. You will lead a caseload of learners, assess support needs, request high needs support funding, coordinate support packages aligned with EHCP outcomes, chair EHCP annual reviews, and manage a team of Learning Coaches. This ensures learners receive a high-quality service, enabling access to college curriculum, facilities, and services, thereby improving achievement rates.

We seek a Progress Coordinator with a successful track record in supporting learners with mental health issues, physical disabilities, medical conditions, sensory impairments, learning difficulties, and other support needs within a post-16 educational setting. You should have personal achievements in learning support and the disability field, with proven experience in coordinating and supervising a team.

Experience in implementing and developing quality systems is essential. You should be capable of carrying out and recording assessments, including risk assessments, and acting as a key person for learners—chairing EHCP reviews and contributing to Needs Assessments. A good understanding of SEND reforms, equality & safeguarding legislation, and their implications for the Learning Support Service is required. Also, a good working knowledge of support funding, including high needs support, and resource management is necessary.
