About the role:

We are currently seeking a Progress and Development Tutor to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College group.

As a Progress and Development Tutor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Personal Development and Mentoring - Deliver curriculum, support staff, contribute to tutorials, develop employability skills, provide pastoral care, support emotional and academic wellbeing, advise on post-18 destinations.
  • Specialist Area - Ensure high levels of support, deliver mentoring programme, assist in resource development, deliver VESPA programme, plan interventions, support additional qualifications, monitor attendance, oversee learning plans, advise on applications, complete training, manage wellbeing concerns, work with stakeholders, support new student induction, carry out administrative duties, ensure communication, contribute to positive environment.
  • College Wide Responsibilities - Attend other campuses, support ID checks, invigilate exams, participate in open days and key events.
  • Safeguarding - Promote and safeguard welfare, raise concerns.
  • Equality & Diversity - Promote equality and diversity.
  • Health & Safety - Follow health and safety requirements.
  • Training & Development - Participate in training and development.

About you:

  • Education - Level 3 qualifications, English and Maths A*-C, recent professional development.
  • Knowledge - Post 16 education, school/college-based support, Equality and Diversity, safeguarding, sixth form assessment.
  • Skills - Deliver additional qualifications, relate to and motivate young people, excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills, high computer literacy, professional and caring approach.
  • Attributes - Commitment to education values, desire to improve, ability to network, adapt to change, handle sensitive data, work alone and in teams, work under pressure, meet deadlines, build relationships, attention to detail, commitment to professional development.
  • Responsibilities - Promote safeguarding and welfare, travel to campuses, adapt working hours, maintain professional boundaries.
  • Compliance - Work in line with values, policies, and procedures, especially Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding, and Health & Safety.
