Job summary

The Donkey Sanctuary is seeking an experienced programme professional to support effective partnerships and projects improving animal welfare in Ethiopia. The role is based in Sidmouth with hybrid working, typically one or two days per month on site.

You will join an international programmes and partnerships team, coordinating project cycles, monitoring and reporting, and ensuring capacity and resources are in place to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate full programme cycle for funded partnerships in Ethiopia.
• Support funding applications, reporting and shared learning.

• Contribute to capacity, resources and support for delivery
• Gather data, case studies and photography to demonstrate impact

We are seeking an experienced programme professional to support effective partnerships and projects that improve animal welfare across Ethiopia.

Salary: £31,425 per annumLocation: The role is based in Sidmouth and offers hybrid working, with attendance currently anticipated to be one or two days each month. The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per weekContract: Fixed-term for 18 monthsClosing date: Monday 28 September 2026

About The Role

You will join an international programmes and partnerships team, supporting the successful coordination, monitoring and development of projects in Ethiopia.

Working closely with the Regional Programmes and Partnerships Advisor for Africa, you will help ensure that partnerships have the capacity, resources and support required to deliver positive and sustainable outcomes for animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Supporting the full programme cycle for funded partnerships in Ethiopia, including funding applications, project grants, reporting and shared learning
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with strategic partners and country teams
• Coordinating projects and programmes to ensure they are appropriately monitored and evaluated
• Supporting partner due diligence and compliance with organisational policies and procedures
• Helping to ensure the right internal capacity, skills and resources are available to deliver the organisation’s strategy in Ethiopia
• Collating contextual information, data, case studies and photography to demonstrate the impact of the work
• Supporting communication and coordination between country teams and the wider organisation

About You

You will have significant experience of working in Ethiopia within international development, animal welfare or a closely related sector.

• Demonstrable project or programme cycle management experience
• Experience using project monitoring, evaluation and reporting tools
• The ability to develop strong relationships with diverse international stakeholders
• A degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong organisational, communication and coordination skills
• Competent Microsoft Office skills
• Fluency in English
