Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC in the United Kingdom is seeking a Programme Manager to deliver a programme or portfolio under the Head of Projects. You will report to the Senior Programme Manager and be based at Westlakes, coordinating planning, budgets and governance for complex initiatives.

Key responsibilities include directing activities from initiation to closure, managing costs, staffing and risks, and maintaining strong client and partner relationships to win future opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate team activities for project delivery.
  • Monitor project economics including costs, budgets and risks.
  • Assemble resources to meet programme needs and requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, monitor and report programme activities.
  • Ensure adherence to PM processes and governance.
  • Maintain QA to ensure robust reporting and management systems.
  • Lead status review meetings and escalate major concerns.
  • Control scope and change management with appropriate approvals.
  • Promote learning and continuous improvement within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with customer account manager to develop a work pipeline.

About the role:

As a Programme Manager you will be working under the guidance of the Head of Projects, responsible for the delivery and project management requirements of a Programme or Portfolio of Projects.

You will report to the Senior Programme Manager and be located at Westlakes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning, directing and co-ordinating the team's activities to manage and implement projects and/or interrelated projects from initiation to final closure.
  • Determines and monitors and reviews all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk.
  • Identifies and assembles the appropriate blend of resources to meet the Programme or Portfolio's needs and requirements.
  • Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the Programme/Portfolio.
  • Adheres to the established Project Management processes and governance arrangements, ensuring this is cascaded throughout the projects that make up the Programme/Portfolio.
  • Ensures QA arrangements are in place to provide assurance that reporting and adherence to Management Systems is robust.
  • Undertakes status review meetings among project teams that form the Programme/Portfolio under their oversight. Advises the Head of Projects on matters of escalation, major concerns, risks, and opportunities within the Programme/Portfolio.
  • Controls project requirements, scope and change management issues (including approval of contract variations and early warnings within appropriate levels of authority).
  • Actively promotes learning from experience and continuous improvement, working with the Head of Projects to identify and embed improvements within the Programme/Portfolio.
  • Works closely with the Programme/Portfolio's Customer Account Manager to identify, develop and maintain a pipeline of work for the Programme/Portfolio. This includes maintaining appropriate relationships within client, partner, and supply chain organisations as well as setting delivery/execution strategies at RFQ/ITT stages for all new opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 or more years of applicable project management experience required
  • Leadership ability
  • Advanced interpersonal skills such as effective verbal and written communications
  • Ability to lead and direct complex team structures
  • Able to develop relationships with stakeholders in upper management positions and client organisations
  • Analyse problems, establish facts and make complex decisions with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to drive change/ changes in working practicesKnowledge and experience of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
