Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a Programme Manager to join our aerospace client based in Bristol or RAF Lossiemouth. The role is full-time with limited hybrid working and a fixed-term 12‑month maternity cover.

You will lead the P-8A Training Support Provision, act as the primary UK MOD interface, and drive transition from mobilisation to execution, building the Training Service IPT and delivering on time, cost, and quality targets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cross functional programme team delivering P-8A training and related scope.
  • Execute, monitor, control and report the programme to meet time, cost, quality targets and KPIs.
  • Act as primary interface to internal and external stakeholders including MOD customers.
  • Integrate and implement Programme Management Best Practices across the TSP programme.
  • Support Training Growth initiatives and international training expansion (Germany, Denmark, Norway).
  • Oversee day-to-day leadership of assigned Programme Managers and performance management.
  • Maintain strong supplier and subcontract management, ensuring SQEP recruitment and contractor performance.
  • Champion values fostering accountability, safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely delivery of contractual deliverables and milestones.

Morson Edge are currently seeking a Programme Manager to join our aerospace client based in either of the following locations - Location: Bristol office or RAF Lossiemouth (full-time, limited hybrid working) Reports to: P-8A / E 7 Sustainment Programme Manager Term: Fixed term 12 months (maternity cover)

Role Purpose
  • Lead and be accountable for the delivery of the P-8A Training Support Provision (TSP) contract (time, cost, requirement and quality).
  • Act as the primary interface to the UK MOD for overall TSP performance.
  • Support E-7 Training transition from mobilisation to execution phase, thus creating and standing up the Training Service IPT.
Key P-8A TSP Contract Elements
  • Provision of SQEP Instructors and Console Operators to meet the Statement of Requirements.
  • Provision of Course Design Support Personnel to meet the Statement of Requirements.
  • Ensure Specified Assets availability and provision of suitably qualified maintenance personnel, spares, licences and configuration control.
  • Manage Additional Tasks.
  • Provide General Support personnel for daily Training Centre operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the cross functional programme team delivering P 8A & E 7 training and associated scope.
  • Execute, monitor, control and report the programme in accordance with processes and governance to meet time, cost and quality targets, and contractual KPIs.
  • Act as the primary interface to internal and external stakeholders, including the Authority, MOD customers, NAM and OC42.
  • Integrate and implement Programme Management Best Practices across the TSP programme.
  • Support Training Growth initiatives (e.g. PP2 / POWER), international training expansion (Germany, Denmark, Norway) and training device upgrades.
  • Oversee day to day leadership of assigned TSP Project Manager(s) provide coaching, development and performance management.
  • Maintain strong supplier and subcontract management, ensuring SQEP recruitment and contractor performance.
  • Champion values and behaviours foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely delivery of contractual deliverables, CDRLs and milestone commitments.
Essential Requirements
  • Accredited programme/project management qualification: APMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMI PMP, PMW courses or equivalent.
  • Proven experience leading cross functional teams, ideally in a matrix organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrable track record of successful delivery and accountability.
  • Ability to act as primary customer interface and influence senior stakeholders.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
  • 10+ years' programme / project management experience in aerospace or defence, with budget ownership and cost management.
  • Direct experience managing UK MOD contracts and service contracts, including KPI/PI management.
  • Experience of mobilisation-to execution transitions and standing up training or sustainment capability.
  • Strong stakeholder management across clients, suppliers, sponsors and assurance organisations.
  • Demonstrable skills in contract/financial control over multi year production or sustainment contracts.
  • Ability to manage change within challenging schedules and competing priorities.
  • Degree qualified (preferably engineering or business management).
  • 'Can do' attitude, pragmatic problem solver, collaborative leader who gets the best from a team.
Success Measures
  • TSP contract execution to schedule, budget and quality with high customer satisfaction.
  • Availability of specified training assets and SQEP to meet training demand.
  • On time delivery of CDRLs and milestones, and effective change control via TDMC/Change Board processes.
  • Successful transition and delivery of E 7 Training scope from mobilisation to execution.
  • Effective development and performance of the TSP Project Manager(s) and wider delivery team.
  • Continuous improvements identified and implemented for training devices and processes.
