Job description

At Northumberland College, we are seeking a forward-thinking and inspirational Programme Leader in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to join our team. As Programme Leader, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of a modern curriculum that reflects both regional priorities and national industry standards. You will champion innovation in learning, embedding advanced technologies such as smart manufacturing, robotics, additive manufacturing, and data-driven production systems. You will also collaborate closely with industry partners to ensure our provision is responsive to employer needs and aligned with the future direction of UK manufacturing.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Lead the review and development of curriculum, ensuring career-focused, sequenced learning with high-quality resources and planning.
  2. Oversee accurate data management throughout the student journey to drive continuous improvement and monitor programme performance.
  3. Take responsibility for student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression, ensuring quality guidance and support.
  4. Deliver exceptional teaching, assessment, and learning experiences, maintaining high standards across all courses and programmes.
  5. Ensure pastoral care and well-being support for students, working with internal and external teams to address concerns.
  6. Promote and celebrate student and staff success, contributing to a positive college culture and valuing excellence.
  7. Minimum of a Level 5 in Engineering subject level.
  8. Level 5 in Education and Training or willing to work towards.
  9. Minimum Level 3 qualification Automotive / Motor Vehicle related area.
  10. Minimum Level 2 Maths qualification.
  11. Minimum Level 2 English qualification. Previous experience of working within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering sector.
  12. Demonstrates courage in leading change, embracing innovation, and taking accountability for student progress and curriculum development.
  13. Displays authenticity through expert knowledge, genuine passion for teaching, and commitment to student success and industry standards.
  14. Shows respect by fostering inclusive, supportive environments and valuing diverse perspectives within the teaching and learning process.
  15. Strives for excellence in delivering high-quality teaching, assessments, and ensuring continuous improvement in student outcomes.

Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state-of-the-art new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college, where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing, and engineering centre will be located.

The college offers technical, vocational further and higher education, including large apprenticeship programs and dedicated centres for young people with SEND. The main campuses are in Ashington and Ponteland, with additional satellite delivery centres across the region. When the new Department for Education-backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park opens, it will feature architectural innovation and modern facilities, supported by a significant £52 million+ investment, complementing recent investments of £14 million in existing sites.
