Job Title: Programme Lead

Reports To: Academic Dean
Location: London Academy for Applied Technology, Aldgate
Contract Type: Full-time | Permanent
Programme Leadership & Academic Management
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of the BSc Business programme, ensuring alignment with the partner university’s academic framework and quality standards.
  • Act as the key point of contact between London Academy for Applied Technology (LAAT) and the partner university, ensuring compliance with academic and operational agreements.
  • Provide line management for staff delivering on the BSc Business program, ensuring staff receive appropriate induction, training, and development opportunities.
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, progress, retention, and achievement, implementing interventions where necessary.
  • Ensure all programme and module specifications, handbooks, and VLE content are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Chairing weekly meetings relevant to Programme area, reporting channels to SMT and Student Support team.
    • Weekly Program Team meetings (UG and PG)
    • Weekly Academic Progress meeting (for all modules through the Lead Academic Coordinator)
    • Weekly Operational aspects meeting (IT, non-academic, Timetabling, attendance monitoring, etc)
    • Weekly report to SMT monitoring.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and reporting, providing regular programme updates to Stakeholders and Senior Management Team (SMT) through Academic Dean.
  • Helping on the recruitment of faculty by conducting interviews along side the AD

Teaching, Learning & Assessment

  • Lead the teaching, learning, and assessment strategy, ensuring high-quality academic delivery and adherence to university regulations.
  • Support curriculum design, assessment development, and module alignment with the programme’s learning outcomes, in line with partner university requirements.
  • Ensure that assessments and marking are delivered appropriately and to the required standard, in line with partner university guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and academic mentorship to teaching staff, supporting pedagogical excellence and innovation.
  • Ensure that student feedback is incorporated into curriculum enhancements and programme improvements.
  • Liaise with exams and assessment officer to ensure that Turnitin links are set up, submissions are monitored and suitable interventions are put in place.
  • Arrange for marking workshops, standardisation meetings before marking and academic misconduct meetings including setting up panel for the meeting)

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OfS, QAA, CMA, GDPR, Safeguarding, and Prevent Duty requirements.
  • Lead on programme validation, re-approval, external review, and audits, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Produce the Annual Programme Monitoring and Enhancement reports, working closely with the partner university and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with external examiners, ensuring their recommendations are implemented where appropriate.
  • Oversee internal and external moderation processes to maintain academic integrity and lead on all standardisation activities.

Student Support & Engagement

  • Act as a primary contact for students, ensuring they receive high-quality academic and pastoral support.
  • Coordinate and participate in student induction, academic workshops, and extracurricular activities to enhance the student experience.
  • Liaise with the Academic Coordinator/(s) to ensure that student representatives are selected, trained, and supported in their roles
  • Monitor student participation and engagement, working closely with student support teams to address any concerns.
  • Work with relevant teams to support student employability and professional development.
  • Support the Academic Mentoring Programme and ensure that it delivers value for all stakeholders.

University Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong working relationships with the partner university, ensuring clear communication on academic matters and programme developments.
  • Represent LAAT in academic forums, partnership meetings, and industry engagement initiatives.
  • Support staff development initiatives, ensuring teaching teams are trained in university policies and best practices.
  • Work with marketing and admissions teams to support student recruitment and promote the programme.

Scholarship & Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing scholarship and research, ensuring academic content remains relevant and up to date.
  • Extend, transform, and apply knowledge from scholarship to teaching and external knowledge exchange activities.
  • Lead or contribute to research projects, curriculum innovations, or enterprise initiatives related to the business discipline.
  • Ensure staff get enough CPD’s and these are arranged internally or staff supported to acquire CPDs externally.


Requirements

Key Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • A Master’s degree (or higher) in Business, Education, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in programme leadership, course coordination, or academic management in a higher education setting.
  • Strong understanding of UK higher education quality assurance, regulatory frameworks (OfS, QAA, CMA), and franchise partnerships.
  • Proven experience in curriculum design, assessment planning, and student support strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and data analysis skills, with experience in tracking student performance and programme outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging with university partners, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, working independently and collaboratively across academic teams.

Desirable:

  • A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PGCHE, or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy - FHEA) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience working with international students and knowledge of UKVI compliance.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships, work-based learning, or industry partnerships in a business education context.
  • Experience using digital learning tools, blended learning methodologies, and innovative teaching practices.
  • Strong external network and experience in leading research projects, securing funding, or enterprise initiatives.
