An opportunity has arisen in the Operations & Innovation service within the Climate & Inclusive Growth Directorate for a Programme Delivery & Projects Officer.

This role is being offered on a fixed-term basis.

About the Climate and Inclusive Growth Directorate (CIG)

Lambeth Council's Climate and Inclusive Growth (CIG) Directorate is dedicated to fostering positive change for our residents and businesses in Lambeth. Whether it's creating new homes, furthering work opportunities, nurturing creative spaces, or addressing the climate emergency, CIG is at the forefront of driving impactful transformations.

Comprising three divisions — Economy, Culture, and Skills (ECS); Climate, Planning, and Transport (PTS); and Regeneration, Growth, and Housing (RHG) — CIG embodies a multifaceted approach to sustainable growth and development.

The Role

The role is part of a multi-disciplinary team undertaking a wide and varied range of work. Workstreams include project delivery, programme management, and back-office functions.

In this role you will:

  • Have a good understanding of finance, especially in relation to built environment functions such as Planning and Building Control.
  • Be able to deliver key projects both as part of a team and independently.
  • Carry out essential financial administration tasks, including raising invoices, reconciling receipts, chasing debtors, raising purchase orders, and setting up suppliers.
  • Support programme management of Planning Performance Agreements, including resource and spend analysis.
  • Assist in the recruitment process for Planning and Building Control services, including posting requests on in-house systems.
  • Research topics to support briefings and benchmarking exercises.

Requirements

  • Good mathematical and written skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Planning or related built environment services.
  • Experience with back-office or bookkeeping tasks is welcomed (training provided).
  • Ability to analyze data using different methodologies.
  • Flexible, positive attitude open to change and trying new approaches.
  • Quick learner, viewing mistakes as growth opportunities.
  • Effective communicator, keeping team members and managers informed.
  • Self-aware and receptive to honest feedback, not afraid to ask for help.
