As the ad technology experts, we use both our knowledge of such systems and the enormous amounts of data generated to deliver true innovation and world class solutions with the goal of maximising revenue potential.

Your role: Focussing on News UK's digital portfolio, which includes The Sun, The Times, talkSPORT and Talk, the Programmatic Analyst role is responsible for implementing strategies to maximise digital advertising yield. Working within the Yield & Optimisation team, this role will pull the levers within News UK's pricing framework and programmatic ad stack to achieve this.

Maintenance of News UK's commercial reporting platforms will be a key part of this role. This is an extremely data heavy role, working with the billions of rows of data per month generated from the multitude of touch points News UK possesses with both their customers and consumers. From this they will identify meaningful business outcomes, produce detailed analysis and confidently convey to the relevant stakeholders.

Day to day you will
  • Execute yield optimization strategies by manipulating the ad technology stack.
  • Continual analysis and improvement of ad stack, ad server, revenue opportunities/risks and products.
  • Proactively formulate and propose revenue and yield boosting opportunities through forensic analysis of programmatic, audience and inventory performance data.
  • Enhance News UK's programmatic analysis tools and capabilities.
  • Work closely with the data & technology teams to sustain the integrity of reporting API data for each programmatic monetisation vendor.
  • Sustain a strong understanding of the latest industry trends to discover any potential new areas of revenue growth.
  • Support business stakeholders with intelligence and insights to aid strategic decision making.
  • Assist in the activation of programmatic sales budgets on News UK properties by actively pursuing sales leads, trend analysis, reporting and insights.
  • Track spend patterns by agency and clients working with sales, client and agency teams to highlight any variations or areas of interest.
  • Liaise with sales teams to control pricing of digital inventory and provide ad-hoc pricing on non-standard packages of inventory.
  • Provide technical and statistical insight directly to both sales and clients on briefs and pitches.
What we're looking for
  • Solid understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem and digital inventory management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organise, analyse and scrutinise substantial amounts of data with precision and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of data manipulation using a SQL based tool (eg. BigQuery, MySQL, etc.), as well as experience in working with big data sets (billions of rows) is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Preferred degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Computer Science.
  • Strong organizational, time management, written and communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate possesses the ability to take initiative and drive projects with minimal supervision.
