Job Summary:

The Global Solutions Delivery (GSD) team is focused on solving the technological and experiential needs of the Investments Division and Group Functions. As a team, our mission is to create solutions that provide value to our customers and partners while continuously improving the existing services and solution offerings. In support of this effort, GSD is recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Program Director to provide leadership with managing the delivery of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) II initiative.

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive is the update to the existing European MiFID framework aimed at improving transparency and reducing risk in the financial markets. The primary pieces of legislation: MiFID II (a directive addressing issues related to business conduct) and MiFIR (a regulation addressing issues related to transparency and market infrastructure) will come into force on 3 January 2018. This group in the UK is regulated under the MiFID regime and will be impacted by this new regulation.

To ensure a robust control environment, the following five areas of focus will require a significant effort and investment to enhance our IT systems, processes and compliance policies to meet the requirements of MiFID II:

  1. Investment research
  2. Client reporting requirements including costs and charges
  3. Transaction reporting (incl. pre-and post-trade transparency)
  4. Best execution
  5. Clock synchronization

Ideally looking for someone who understands MiFID II from a buy side firm's perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the delivery of all five work streams from initiation through final implementation.
  • Monitor progress/delays of the work streams within the project and outline any potential areas of risk, including completion percentages, expenditure of resources, and interim (or final) dates for work activities, the program plan integrates these measures and shows their collective impact.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and provide indirect leadership, where persuasive skills, negotiation skills and considerable tact are required to gain support; conflicts will be resolved in an effective and productive manner. Maintains positive relationships with key stakeholders and partners, and interfaces regularly with senior managers.
  • Acts as the primary interface with the MAM Europe, Investment Division Compliance and GSD in respect of all project artifacts and compliance with GSD's project management framework.
  • Manages program financials including establishing controls, tracking resource/costs and providing timely project monitoring/reporting and good business solutions.
  • Prepare communications to steering committee and other stakeholders to monitor project progress.
  • Acts as the primary interface with the various accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate project cost reporting.
  • Acts as a customer advocate to drive prioritization of work streams and responses to problems/issues.

Job Requirements (Knowledge/Skills/Competencies):

  • Solid knowledge of project management tools, techniques, and systems development methodologies, including expert use of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of Planview is preferred.
  • Highly effective influence, negotiation and collaboration skills with the ability to work across the enterprise globally.
  • Strong financial management skills and knowledge of project financial reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels.
  • Must have proven experience in identifying project risks and issues, and making effective decisions/engaging project team members to develop risk mitigation/avoidance plans.
  • Ability to foster and build relationships, engage and influence others, work with diverse internal, global business units and global network providers/outsourcers.
  • Flexible and adaptable when dealing with change with a strong awareness and understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of products including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
  • Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage concurrent projects.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Flexible to work in a global team environment with occasional evening conference calls.

Education/Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems or related fields.
  • Masters degree and/or MBA would be an asset.
  • Technical background in Asset Management, IT and Compliance.
  • 10+ years of progressive project delivery experience including a strong track record of delivering on large regional/global projects.
  • PMP designation or other industry recognized PM Certification.

Preferred:

  • Experience in implementation of process and/or technology improvements in investment / asset management / regulatory compliance functions.
