The MMEP team (Middle Mile Engineering Program) is seeking an experienced program manager to join the team to support the middle mile logistics network in Europe and UK. Our program managers are key players in delivering end-to-end solutions to our logistics network, thinking about the bigger picture, influencing key business decisions and pioneering new ways of thinking. In this role you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the organization, scoping new solutions and making a big impact on some of the most exciting ideas that are shaping the future of Amazon.

As a program manager, the candidate will support in the creation, implementation and execution of the governance for capacity management for our existing network (EU and UK). The candidate will be working closely with key stakeholders such as Operations, Network Planning, ACES and Engineering teams to align, validate and plan the maximum capacities for each sort center. The candidate will support coordinating the development of clear site capacity baseline, understanding of capacity constraints, set targets to increase capacity utilization, establish a change management process, reporting tools and provide inputs that will be used for peak preparation, planning cycles, and investment decisions.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Capacity Management
    • Conduct Infrastructure capacity assessments to support long term planning operations
    • Develop and implement systems to monitor sort center infrastructure capacity changes
    • Create standardized reporting tools for site-level capacity tracking
    • Conduct comprehensive site assessments through facility visits (~15% Travel) and operational analysis
    • Partner with engineering teams and research scientists to identify and resolve infrastructure capacity constraints and develop site capacity improvement opportunities and 3-year roadmaps.
  2. Program Governance
    • Monitor implementation progress and risk management
    • Drive network-wide standardization and benchmarking
    • Track and report key performance metrics
    • Ensure consistent program delivery across all sites
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Align multiple teams (Engineering, Design, Operations) on capacity assessments
    • Work closely with site operations teams to understand local constraints
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams across management levels
    • Provide actionable insights to operational planning teams

A day in the life
As a program manager, you will need continuous alignment and understanding of the network long term demands, available engineering solutions, financial assessments and comparison between different potential solutions to one problem. The PM not only coordinates, but understands and provides guidance to the teams on solutions and ideas. The PM has high ownership. They provide directive actions on where to focus as it they have the long term and bigger picture as a goal. When needed the PM will actively direct teams during execution, manage escalations, approvals and dive deep into financial, network demand, procurement, operations, engineering or real estate topics.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, operations, logistics, or related field.
  2. Experience in logistics operations, capacity management or supply chain.
  3. Experience in managing, implementing and delivering cross functional initiatives across teams and organizations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to analyze and present data-driven insights to various audiences
  5. Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
  6. Excellent multitasking abilities with a history of managing concurrent projects effectively
  7. Proven experience delivering results under tight deadlines
  8. Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership.
  9. Proficiency in Program/Project/change Management implementation and reporting mechanisms/tools (Excel, Project, MS software).
  10. English proficiency
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Master’s degree/MBA in business, operations, logistics, supply chain, or related field
  2. Experience in management within the Transport, Distribution or Logistics industry would be highly desirable
  3. PMP or other project management certification
  4. Proficiency with MS Project
  5. SQL knowledge for query creation and data handling
  6. French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
