Program Manager, Grocery Fulfillment, Japan

Why don't you scale your opportunity in an innovative and challenging field at Amazon? Do you want to establish a best-in-class operation strategy and program while building strong relationships with global stakeholders?

The Grocery Fulfillment team is seeking a talented Program Manager with a proven track record of delivery and project management experience to oversee strategic, tactical, and cross-functional programs. The ideal candidate is excited about making customer-facing changes and driving cost improvements, with strong relationships with both overseas and domestic stakeholders.

This role involves scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and executing initiatives, and communicating with senior management regarding status, risks, and changes. Cross-team coordination, project management, and executive presentation skills are essential.

An analytical candidate with program/project management or grocery operations experience is ideal, as this role requires collaboration with multiple teams (Tech, Operations, Analytics, Finance, Workforce Planning, Delivery, Engineering/Facility, HR, etc.) to lead, influence, and support critical projects. A robust understanding of fulfillment operations, including order fulfillment, inventory flows, capacity management, quality, and long-term planning, will help develop innovations within complex ultra-fast operations.

The Program Manager will interact with senior audiences to provide updates and strategic recommendations to balance business needs with operator experience. Skills in documentation, project management, and cross-team coordination are essential.

Fluent communication in both English (for overseas stakeholders) and Japanese (for JP Operations and business members) is mandatory.

The position is based in Tokyo, Japan, working from either the Corporate Office (Meguro) or Grocery Fulfillment Centers (Kanagawa, Tokyo).

Key responsibilities
  1. Designing and modeling new operational processes to meet quality, cost, and scalability goals.
  2. Analyzing data across fulfillment functions to establish global standards.
  3. Building partnerships with operations leaders and benchmarking teams to identify improvement opportunities.
  4. Addressing operational barriers through root cause analysis and solutions.
  5. Leading project teams to plan and execute complex initiatives.
  6. Innovating to enhance customer experience and reduce costs.
  7. Developing and refining metrics to support future business needs.
