Job summary

Travelers Europe seeks an experienced Professional Negligence Lawyer to join our UK team in London or Manchester. You will manage a portfolio of professional indemnity matters and contribute to ABS developments while operating under a hybrid model (three days in-office, two at home).

The ideal candidate has solid insurance litigation experience, England & Wales PQE, and strong advocacy and drafting skills. You will lead complex files, mentor juniors, and collaborate with partners to shape

Responsibilities

• Litigate cases to verdict with strong trial skills.
• Independently handle a moderate caseload from case inception through to trial/resolution.
• Work under the guidance of the Head of Legal Practice on complex files.
• Conduct legal research and supervise Paralegals and Legal Secretaries.
• Draft interim motions, briefs, disclosure requests and other court documents.
• Attend court events independently.
• Learn and understand client expectations and ABS goals.
• Assist in special projects and committees.
• Provide recommendations and case analysis to business partners on file strategy.
• Integrate legal support staff into the case handling process.
• Build and maintain internal and external client relationships.
• Complete time reporting, closed cases and other performance materials.
• Use technology and automation in legal practice.
• Adhere to the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct.
• Complete necessary training and certifications to ensure regulatory compliance.

Job Category Legal Target Openings 1 What Is the Opportunity? We are looking for an experienced Professional Negligence Lawyer to join our team as a Senior Fee Earner, based in either Manchester or London. In this role, you will manage your own caseload of professional indemnity claims across a range of professionals, while also contributing to the development and management of our Alternative Business Structure (ABS). The ideal candidate will have solid experience in professional negligence, ideally with exposure to defendant insurance work, and will be confident running their own caseload with minimal supervision. Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company's discretion.

What Will You Do?

• Litigate cases to verdict, demonstrating superior use of trial skills and techniques.
• Ability to independently handle a moderate caseload with moderate level of severity and complexity from case inception through to trial/resolution.
• Work under the guidance of the Head of Legal Practice in litigating complex and high exposure files.
• Conduct legal research as necessitated and supervise research projects delegated to Paralegals and Legal Secretaries.
• Independently draft interim motions, briefs, disclosure requests and other court documents.
• Attend court events and other appointments independently.
• Learn and understand client expectations in addition to the key department business goals of ABS and assist in meeting those goals.
• Handle and actively seek opportunities to become involved in special projects and on committees.
• Provide recommendations and case analysis to business partners on appropriate file handling strategy.
• Integrate legal support staff into the case handling process.
• Build and maintain superior internal and external client relationships.
• Complete all required administrative tasks including time reporting, closed cases, reports and other materials appropriate to performance of duties.
• Effectively make use of technology and automation in the practice of law.
• Adhere to all standards of excellence in file management.
• Strictly adhere to the principles, outcomes and indicative behaviours of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct.

What is a Must Have?

• University degree.
• Fully qualified solicitor or a barrister in England and Wales.
• Some Post Qualification Experience (PQE).
• Must be authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
• Employment will be subject to authorisation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority if not already authorised.
