Position Summary

This role functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, and advocate for practice transitions. It involves planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating staff education to enhance professional practice, support career growth, and promote lifelong learning. The educator verifies clinical competence, supports the hospital’s mission, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care and staff development.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop educational plans accordingly.
  • Coordinate orientation programs and meet regularly with new staff, preceptors, and leadership, utilizing Education Action Plans as needed.
  • Participate in quality and safety initiatives.
  • Implement and evaluate educational programs using innovative methodologies to improve staff skills and competence.
  • Develop evidence-based, culturally competent curricula following ANPD standards, addressing diverse learning needs.
  • Use the ANPD Practice Model for department-specific education creation and evaluation.
  • Assess and verify team member proficiency through direct observation and feedback.
  • Collaborate with leadership to review progress and skills development.
  • Evaluate competency verification methods and report findings to stakeholders.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving departmental and organizational outcomes.
  • Work with Clinical Learning to enhance clinical skills and professional development.
  • Encourage participation in professional organizations and organizational initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing education to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Apply evidence-based practices aligned with research and standards.
  • Seek continuous learning and adapt to interdisciplinary project dynamics.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning.
  • Embrace change proactively and demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Assist with corporate courses and serve as a preceptor for Learning Specialists.
  • Maintain visibility and support across shifts, and serve as a resource for health records systems.
  • Keep accurate records of educational activities and generate reports for continuous improvement.
  • Support student placement efforts and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by educational leadership.
Qualifications

Education

BSN from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current RN license in Alabama required.
  • Obtain national specialty certification within two years of hire if available.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications as required.

Experience

Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience required.
