Job Summary:

Morton Salt's Silver Springs, NY location has immediate opening for a production worker. The right individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks, on varying shifts (2nd or 3rd shift) as required. These positions frequently demand considerable manual exertion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate processing equipment for the production of salt.
  • Operate bagging or packaging equipment to maintain desired output and operating standards.
  • Fill, palletize, and haul product to assigned storage.
  • Perform adjustments and minor repairs to maintain production activities.
  • General cleaning in production and warehouse buildings.
  • May be required to fill-in as a machine operator.
  • Assist in start-ups and shutdowns.
  • Required to perform utility work as assigned.
  • Responsible for following production schedules and accurately reporting operational records.
  • Assist in assuring the line is supplied with desired salt grades.
  • Responsible for product quality and maximum output.
  • Will at all times be alert to safety conditions and will strictly adhere to all safety requirements, quality control guidelines, environmental policies/procedures and other plant policies.
  • Be familiar with Food & Safety and Quality programs within the plant.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Ability to operate a powered industrial vehicle.
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work all shifts in a 24/7 environment.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work any shift and any schedule.
  • Constant lifting up to 65 lbs., rapid work speed, standing, and grasping.
  • Frequent bending, carrying and pulling up to 65 lbs., twisting, reaching, feeling, and finger movement.
  • Frequent high acuity hearing and depth perception.
  • Constant noise 80dB and over.
  • Frequent vibration, dryness, dust, and mechanical hazards.
  • Varied temperature due to weather conditions.
  • Eye protection, hearing protection, head covering, and foot protection required.

Starting rate of $24.02, increasing to $27.87 upon completion of a 90-day probationary period.
