Job summary

Rayner Surgical Group in Worthing, West Sussex, is seeking a Production Technician for its Hydrophobic department to manufacture high-quality intraocular lenses. The role is based in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment with 12-hour night shifts (7pm–7am) on a 4 on/4 off rotation.

The position is full-time and permanent in a state-of-the-art HQ, offering a competitive salary with a £6,000 shift allowance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and fill moulds with polymer before placing into exposure machines to set material.
• Cure lenses using both cold and hot wash machines.
• Process lenses through a vacuum oven to stabilise and complete manufacturing.
• Measure, inspect and sort lenses into the correct power categories.
• Operate production machinery and associated process equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow SOPs, work instructions and training provided by experienced technicians.
• Complete batch documentation and process records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work within a controlled change environment, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and support new ways of working.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness within the production area.

Job description

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Production Technician to join our Hydrophobic department. This is a hands-on role and you will be responsible for producing high-quality Intraocular Lenses that help improve people’s vision worldwide.

This role is ideally suited to individuals who are meticulous, quality-driven, and thrive in environments requiring precision and concentration. You will be working in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment.

You will be based at our state-of-the-art HQ in Worthing, West Sussex.

• Full-time, permanent role
• 12-hour shifts, 7pm – 7am, 4 on / 4 off rotation
• Salary: £31,783 (including £6000 shift allowance)

Key Responsibilities:

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in a laboratory or cleanroom environment (desirable but not essential)
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent manual dexterity and steady hand coordination
• Ability to remain focused on repetitive, high-precision tasks
• Ability to follow detailed written instructions and procedures
• Basic computer skills for accurate data entry

Working Environment & PPE Requirements

This role is based in a controlled cleanroom environment. To maintain product quality and safety, you will be required to wear full PPE, including:

• White shoes with over shoes
