PURPOSE OF ROLE – Production Technician
To prepare materials for manufacture, assembly of sub-systems and electro-mechanical assemblies and cable harness assemblies. All work must be carried out to the highest standards from verbal, written or drawing specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Job specific responsibilities
Reporting to the Advanced Technician, to be proficient in at least one specific Core Competency (see Appendix 1), and to have secondary skills in at least one other Core Competency.
GENERAL
The job holder will have a current driving licence
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion.
Travel to other Exsel group sites and occasional overseas travel may be required.
Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions & meet UK government security vetting criteria.
Participate in continuous improvement activities within the company
HEALTH & SAFETY
Adhere to all relevant Health and safety procedures and observe safe working practices. All work to be conducted in a safe manner.
Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to be used when required.
All tools and equipment are to be cleared away at the end of a task and work area cleared up before the end of working day.
All hand tools (if used) are to be maintained in a safe useable condition.
To advise advanced Technician, team leader or line manager of any Health & Safety issues promptly. Ascend to new heights in Defence Technology Innovation
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
Ability to read and build to technical drawings
Flexibility to learn and acquire new skills
Flexibility to work with minimal design definition on prototypes
Ability to identify build related issues and feed back to Team Leader
High workmanship and attention to detail
To be able to use power tools & test equipment such as multi-meters
KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Skilled in at least 1 core competency and able to increase skills in others with provided training
APPENDIX 1 – SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES This role has the following specific core competency Electrical Fitting
Mechanical assembly of components into control and distribution panels etc.
Panel wiring
Making up cable looms including crimped and/or soldered terminations
Mechanical installation of electrical equipment.
Wiring of lighting and power circuits
Cable Harness manufacture
