Job description

Our client in Henstridge who specialises in fertilising and turf products is looking for PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER to permanently join their team.

The Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Team Leader will control sections of the manufacturing team, their activities & conduct. This will include direct hands-on intervention with factory activities where and when needed. The role will support the Production Manager in delivering low-cost production, conformance to plan, maximum capacity, optimum yield, minimal downtime, best efficiency. To act as a key member of the company operations management team, to further the goals & objectives of the business. The position is full-time factory based; remote working is impractical.

Job Description:

Duties will include, but are not limited to –

  1. Supporting, assisting & deputising for the Production Manager and other members of the leadership team as needed - both reactively & proactively
  2. Ensure that standards & requirements of Health & Safety are robustly maintained
  3. Ensuring that standards of product & material quality, waste, & housekeeping are fully & consistently met
  4. Organising & monitoring all production activities & team members
  5. Ensuring that the production plans are completed & achieved in the most efficient way
  6. Striving to improve performance against targets. Driving results, monitoring and feeding-back outcomes
  7. Problem solving to keep production active. Recovering from errors with the least effect of the business & customer
  8. Filling-in for staff absence and/or effectively re-organising to cover. Also providing or arranging break cover during the seasonal periods
  9. Ensuring that Shop Floor Data Collection is maintained accurately
  10. Finding better ways for working for the benefit of team members and the business
  11. Always seeking to improve all aspects of operating and of the employee experience
  12. Provide training, enforce rules & maintain standards of behaviour from all members of the team
  13. The role may vary according to business needs

The Person:

  1. High level of understanding of people management skills & principles
  2. Strong but approachable with gravitas, confidence, & empathy
  3. Ability to organise around a variety of tasks & liaise directly with others both internal & external
  4. The ability to communicate in detail with people at all levels. Supportive of colleagues
  5. Understanding of the production processes, production plant, & workplace environment
  6. Clear awareness of H&S principles & specific issues. Mindful of workforce & visitor safety & comfort
  7. Highly flexible, adaptable, and committed
