Job description

Production Team Leader

We're looking for a hands-on and proactive Team Leader to manage and support a high-performing production team responsible for delivering a wide range of premium products for our Telford based client. This is a practical, floor-based role where you'll work closely with your team, leading by example to ensure day-to-day targets are met efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You'll take ownership of production output, resource planning, and process optimisation, all while ensuring timely and accurate delivery of customer orders and compliance with company policies. Your leadership will be key in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the department.

As a Production Team Leader, you will need to have/be:

  • A proven track record in team leadership and management
  • Ability to demonstrate experience of production plan responsibility
  • Strong problem solving and process skills
  • Organised and can prioritise tasks against tight time constraints.
  • Must be proficient in English and maths.
  • Computer literate

Details:

  • Salary: 30, 100
  • Working Hours: Full Time, Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm
  • Location: Telford
  • Duration: Permanent

Role of Production Team Leader:

  • Supervise and support a team of 7 production operatives across two areas.
  • Take a hands-on approach, working alongside the team on the shop floor to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Oversee the manufacture of a diverse range of high-quality products used in signage and illumination (e.g. roads, streets, car parks, schools, pedestrian crossings)
  • Ensure all jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards
  • Organise daily workloads and allocate tasks to meet production targets and schedules
  • Proactively resolve issues as they arise to minimise downtime and maintain productivity
  • Monitor and uphold compliance with all company processes and health and safety procedures
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following and promoting health and safety procedures, identifying potential hazards, and taking proactive steps to minimise risk.
  • Foster strong collaboration with other team leaders to support smooth material flow and operational efficiency.
  • Manage daily production schedules to meet output targets in line with quality and cost expectations.
  • Oversee team allocation and staffing on production lines, including managing overtime to meet business needs.
  • Identify training requirements, facilitate cross-training to build a flexible team, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Provide hands-on support by stepping into operational roles as needed to cover absences or increased workload.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by coaching team members in problem-solving techniques, supporting effective root cause analysis, and implementing lasting corrective actions.
  • Lead daily team briefings, PPE checks, maintenance reviews, and toolbox talks to ensure ongoing safety and operational readiness.
  • Maintain clear communication with other departments such as Sales, Customer Service, and Business Systems to ensure alignment and efficiency.
