Job summary

Yolk Recruitment are partnering with a leading high-precision manufacturing business in Plymouth to recruit a Production Team Leader. You will be responsible for managing people, performance, quality and continuous improvement within your team, reporting to the Production Manager.

The role operates a 2-shift pattern, 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading, motivating and developing teams in manufacturing/production.
• Strong track record of achieving production, quality, productivity and people KPIs.
• Experience managing day-to-day operational performance and delivering against plans and targets.
• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Experience using structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D).
• Knowledge of Health & Safety policies and compliance in manufacturing.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and Planning.
• Ability to make data-driven operational decisions and respond quickly to issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to achieve daily production, quality, productivity and performance targets.
• Monitor performance and implement recovery actions when targets are at risk.
• Plan, organise and prioritise manufacturing activities for safe, compliant operations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
• Promote Lean practices including standard work, SMED and flow optimisation.
• Lead, coach and develop team members through regular 1:1s and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, quality standards and policies.
• Investigate and manage people-related matters including performance and disciplinary processes.
• Collaborate with other Team Leaders and cross-functional teams to hit objectives.
• Support resource planning, onboarding and skills development.
