Job Title: Production Support Operative

The role

As a Production Support Operative, you’ll support complex engineering projects across various business units, including Warships, Submarines, and Factory operations, ensuring smooth delivery.

Daily tasks include maintenance, installation, and equipment testing at Devonport Dockyard, working closely with Electrical Fitters.

1. Assist experienced Electrical Fitters with pre-heat requirements for welding and electrical supplies.
2. Support equipment installation, maintenance, and testing, including system functional tests and monitoring duties.

This is a full-time role (35 hours/week) based on-site at Devonport Dockyard. There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP), involving 5-week shift cycles (day/back shift or day/night shift), with details available from the hiring manager.

Essential Experience

• Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret work instructions, and use workshop tools, especially those related to electrical engineering.
• Marine engineering experience preferred, including work on Royal Navy ships, submarines, or large commercial ships. Other relevant engineering experience considered.
• Experience in a Naval Base environment is desirable.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license.
• Desirable qualifications include HS0003 Hot Work Operators/Sentries, HS0384 Practical Fire Training, NUC1119 Entry to Radiological Area.

Security Clearance

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Details regarding security vetting are available at GOV.UK.
