Job summary

Babcock Rosyth site is seeking a Production Supervisor Structures to lead skilled teams in complex structural fabrication and welding for national defence programmes. You’ll own operational performance, champion safety, and develop the next generation of production professionals.

You’ll translate priorities into production plans, coordinate resources, and drive safety, quality, cost and schedule. This role is on-site, 36 hours weekly, with strong opportunities to influence operational excellence

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading teams in production/manufacturing/shipbuilding/heavy engineering.
• Extensive experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.
• Demonstrable success delivering safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and production specs.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and people development.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily structural production activities to meet contractual commitments and objectives.
• Monitor performance against safety, quality, cost and schedule targets; implement recovery plans as needed.
• Coordinate people, materials, equipment and resources to maximise productivity.
• Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Develop team capability through coaching, engagement, performance management and workforce planning.

The role

As a Production Supervisor Structures, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to lead skilled production teams delivering complex structural fabrication and welding activities that are critical to major defence programmes. You'll take ownership of operational performance, champion a strong safety culture, and help develop the next generation of production professionals. Day-to-day, you’ll lead day-to-day structural manufacturing operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll translate business priorities into achievable production plans, coordinate resources effectively, and drive performance across safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

This role offers the opportunity to influence operational excellence while supporting programmes that help protect national security. You'll be empowered to develop people, improve processes, and make a lasting impact within a complex engineering and manufacturing environment.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience of the Production Supervisor Structures

• Proven experience leading teams within a production, manufacturing, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering environment.
• Extensive experience of structural steel fabrication and welding processes.
• Demonstrable success delivering against safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and production specifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and people development skills.

Qualifications for the Production Supervisor Structures

Essential

• ONC, HNC, or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Time-served engineering, manufacturing, or production background with significant relevant industry experience.

Desirable

• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• ILM Level 3/5, CMI, or another recognised leadership qualification.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement methodologies, Six Sigma, or ERP systems such as IFS.
• Experience within complex manufacturing, defence, shipbuilding, or multi-disciplined production environments.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
