Job summary

Lantmännen Unibake in Bedford is seeking a Ready to Bake Supervisor to lead the Bake at Home department on 12-hour days, reporting to the Shift Manager. You will drive continuous improvement, ensure safety, quality, and efficient handovers, and develop a high-performing team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will supervise teams, enforce standards, manage shift coverage, and participate in line meetings and production reviews.

Qualifications

• Proven background supervising teams in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry.
• Level 2 CIEH Food Hygiene (Level 3 preferred), IOSH Managing Safely, with First Aid or Fire Warden qualifications as a bonus.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Team Supervision: Lead and guide small teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure production aligns with Health & Safety, Quality and Food Safety standards; report non-conformances.
• Product & Packaging Quality: Maintain strict control over product quality and packaging to meet exacting standards.
• Shift Management: Step up as an effective leader in the absence of the Shift Manager.
• Team Leadership: Foster a positive workplace through coaching, support, and development of team members.
• Health & Safety: Conduct safety walks, enforce PPE use, perform pre-startup checklists, address safety concerns promptly.
• Operational Efficiency: Ensure operatives follow SOPs, manage breaks, and provide seamless shift handovers.
• Quality Assurance: Uphold 5S standards, complete paperwork, participate in line meetings and production reviews.
• Effective Communication: Keep the team engaged by sharing company updates and new initiatives.
• Training & Development: Support ongoing training and contribute to a multi-skilled workforce.

As a key member of our production team, reporting to the Shift Manager, you'll lead the Bake at Home department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while inspiring your team to perform at their best. • Standards Compliance: Ensure production aligns with Health & Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards. Identify and report any non-conformances, safeguarding our commitment to top-tier quality.
• Product & Packaging Quality: Maintain strict control over product quality and packaging to meet our exacting standards.
• Shift Management: Step up as an effective leader, providing direction in the absence of the Shift Manager.

Shift Pattern

You will be working 12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

• Week 1 & 3: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (4 days on, 3 days off).
• Week 2 & 4: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,(3 days on, 4 days off).

You will be provided with yearly shift pattern.
