An excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Supervisor to join a well-established company.
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.
Salary: Competitive Salary, Depending on Experience.
Location: Worthing, West Sussex BN14.
About The Role:
Due to continued growth, the company are seeking a reliable and hands-on Production Supervisor to oversee the milling and gear cutting section of their machine shop. Reporting directly to the Shopfloor Manager, this role is key to ensuring efficient workflow, correct job prioritisation, and consistent adherence to procedures and quality standards within the department.
Main Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day operations within the milling and gear cutting area
Ensure machinists are working on the correct jobs and following established procedures and health & safety guidelines
Provide technical support to team members, including troubleshooting tooling, setups, and machining issues
Act as the first point of contact for milling/gear cutting-related shopfloor queries
Monitor output and quality, maintaining high standards across the section
Mentor and support junior machinists, identifying training needs where necessary
Liaise with the Shopfloor Manager, office, and planning teams to ensure production deadlines and priorities are met
Candidate Requirements:
Proven experience in a precision engineering environment with strong, hands-on milling knowledge
Experience or understanding of gear cutting operations is highly desirable
Skilled in both CNC and manual machining processes
Confident in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
A practical, proactive attitude with the ability to lead by example
Familiarity with ISO standards and quality procedures preferred
Experience with Progress Plus or a similar MRP system is an advantage
