Production Supervisor - Days

Salary: Basic £30,500, with Overtime circa £34,000

Industry: Manufacturing

Team Management: Managing a small team of approximately 16 staff

Working Hours: Standard 40 hours - Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:30. Overtime is often required during the busy season (January - April).

My client, a dynamic and ambitious manufacturing company, is seeking to recruit a Day-based Production Supervisor for their site located in Henstridge, between Wincanton and Yeovil. The company supplies fertilisers to the amenity Turf market (football pitches, bowling greens, etc.) and has recently joined a global group.

Role Overview

The successful Production Supervisor will report to the Production Manager and oversee approximately 16 staff, ensuring optimal operation of the production facility. Responsibilities include ensuring the facility is equipped to prepare, manufacture, pack, warehouse, receive, and dispatch a full range of materials and products. The role involves hands-on involvement in factory activities as needed. You will support the Production Manager in delivering low-cost production, achieving plans, maximizing capacity, ensuring optimum yield, and minimizing downtime to ensure the best efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting, assisting, and deputising for the Production Manager and leadership team as needed, both reactively and proactively.
  • Maintaining robust Health & Safety standards.
  • Ensuring quality standards for products and materials, waste management, and housekeeping are consistently met.
  • Organising and monitoring all production activities and team members.
  • Ensuring production plans are completed efficiently.
  • Driving performance improvements, monitoring outcomes, and providing feedback.
  • Accurately maintaining shop floor data collection.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work additional overtime hours during peak season (January-April).

This role is suitable for candidates with experience as a Shift Manager, Shift Controller, Production Controller, Production Manager, or Production Supervisor. The position is commutable from Wincanton, Shepton Mallet, Yeovil, Henstridge, Bruton, and Shaftesbury.
