Job Title: Production Supervisor
As a key people leader in the production directorate, the role reports directly to the Production Manager (PM). In the absence of the Production Manager, the Supervisor(s) will have delegated functional and disciplinary authority over the operational program and all colleagues within the department. Strategic and financial decisions will at all times remain with the Production Manager. Depending on the department setup, the Supervisor may have dedicated functional responsibilities, but will generally support all of the Production Manager's duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure team compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards as per company procedures.
- Be aware of COMAH responsibilities and take appropriate actions during incidents.
- Encourage the team to exceed targets and improve standards.
- Challenge business decisions professionally to ensure understanding.
- Clarify and interpret business decisions within your team.
- Support change using rational thinking and data.
- Adapt communication style to enhance understanding.
- Promote environmental awareness and responsibilities among team members.
- Foster a safety and ethics-conscious environment where concerns are addressed transparently.
- Engage with all colleagues, including unionized and non-unionized staff.
- Establish daily communication channels for team dialogue.
- Share local business information to help colleagues understand their impact.
- Respond to feedback on performance and behavior.
- Oversee team performance and development reviews.
- Maintain supervisory oversight where appropriate.
- Ensure opportunities are merit-based and recognize excellent performance.
- Use SMART metrics for performance evaluation.
- Display and communicate metrics clearly and consistently.
- Implement new methodologies to leverage technological advancements.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes:
- HNC/HND or equivalent, preferably in engineering or aircraft maintenance; or recognized apprenticeship.
- Experience leading technical teams.
- People management experience in an operational, unionized environment.
- Strong communication skills to engage and influence teams.
- Experience in performance management and development coaching.
- Knowledge of MRO operations and aviation regulations (e.g., CAA/FAA/EASA).
- Understanding of process improvement and change management.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations.
- Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Resilient under pressure with trustworthy leadership qualities.
- Ability to build and inspire high-performing teams and communicate strategies effectively.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, proactive and solutions-focused.
- Self-motivated, flexible, confident in decision-making, and committed to developing others.
Working Conditions:
- May require working "Double Days" or "4 on 4 off" shifts.
- Shifts may be early or late.
