Overview

Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Production / Manufacturing Supervisor on behalf of our client based in Braintree on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Multi-Skilled Operatives and Section Leaders to achieve production targets, maintain high quality standards, and ensure operational efficiency. This role will involve driving continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining safety standards, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the smooth running of production operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team to meet precise quality standards and technical specifications
  • Oversee production schedules, ensuring on-time assembly of products
  • Monitor performance data to identify and address key losses (availability, performance, quality) and drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Conduct thorough quality inspections and ensure compliance before products are dispatched
  • Maintain and update the training matrix, booking training for team members as required
  • Promote and maintain 5S standards and a strong health & safety culture in the workplace
  • Monitor and manage stock levels effectively to support uninterrupted production
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Inventory, and Logistics teams to resolve production issues
  • Oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of instruments, tools, and machinery
  • Ensure compliance with company safe systems of work at all times
  • Carry out regular performance reviews, probationary meetings, and one-to-one sessions with team members
  • Provide timely updates and reports on production progress and issues
  • Undertake any other tasks required for the effective operation of the company
Experience, education & qualifications
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing, assembly, or construction environment
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke)
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems desirable
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to health & safety standards
Hours and salary

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (exact shift times to be discussed at interview)
