Job summary

Vibe Recruit is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor / Shift Manager for a Newport manufacturing site. The role is hands-on, leading a busy shift and taking ownership of day-to-day production in a fast-paced environment.

Immediate start with a temporary contract and potential for permanent employment. You will oversee operations to hit targets, coach a team of about 15, and drive improvements in productivity, quality and safety.

Production Supervisor / Shift Manager Location: Newport Pay: £19.00-£21.00 per hour Shifts: Rotating Days, Afternoons and Nights Start Date: Immediate Vibe Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced Production Supervisor / Shift Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Newport.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, hands‑on leader who can take ownership of a busy production environment, manage a team effectively and make an immediate impact.

The position will initially be offered on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production operations, ensuring targets and deadlines are achieved.
• Lead, motivate and support a team of approximately 15 production employees.
• Take ownership of shift performance, productivity, quality and operational KPIs.
• Coordinate staffing and resources to maintain efficient production.
• Ensure health and safety procedures and quality standards are consistently maintained.
• Manage employee performance, attendance and day-to-day operational issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce downtime and increase efficiency.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality and other departments to ensure smooth production operations.
• Maintain accurate production records and effective shift handovers.

About You

We are looking for an experienced manufacturing professional with strong leadership skills who can confidently step into a supervisory position.

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Production Supervisor, Shift Manager or similar operational leadership role, ideally within manufacturing.
• Strong people management skills and experience leading teams in a fast-paced production environment.
• A good understanding of operational KPIs, productivity, quality, safety and performance management.
• The confidence to take ownership of a shift or production area and make effective operational decisions.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to hit the ground running.
• Flexibility to work rotating day, afternoon and night shifts.
• Experience within plastics, medical or regulated manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential.
