The Sterling Choice is seeking an experienced Production Shift Manager for a North Yorkshire food manufacturer. You will lead production teams, ensure clear direction, and drive daily outputs with a focus on consistency and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll manage staffing, production performance, waste and costs, using data to inform decisions while staying visible on the factory floor. Salary circa £45,000 with benefits.

Production Shift Manager

North Yorkshire | Circa £45,000 + benefits

You can put a lot of money into a factory.

But if the rota's wrong, the team doesn't know what's expected and nobody follows up on the problems from yesterday, you're still going to have a difficult shift.

That's where you come in.

This food manufacturer is strengthening its management team and needs an experienced Shift Manager who knows how to get the basics working properly.

Someone who's visible on the floor. Gives clear direction. Has the awkward conversation when it's needed. And makes sure things get followed through.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll lead through a team of managers and line leaders, helping them become more confident and consistent in how they run their areas.

You'll have responsibility for staffing, production performance, waste, costs and standards. There are systems to use and figures to understand, but you'll need to spend time with the people behind those numbers.

There's a track record of people progressing from this level into more senior operational roles. No promised promotion date, but evidence that it can happen.

What do you need to bring?

Experience of managing production teams, ideally within food manufacturing.

You might already be a Production Shift Manager or Production Manager. The title matters less than whether you've taken responsibility for a busy operation, developed the people around you and kept things moving when the plan changed.

You'll need to be organised, comfortable with production data and willing to tackle problems directly.

The salary is circa £45,000, alongside a wider benefits package.

Morning, afternoon and daytime working arrangements are being discussed as the team takes shape. There's also one Sunday in three, normally with a day off during the week in lieu.
