Job summary

Alexander Steele Recruitment is assisting a leading food manufacturing business in Leicester to recruit 2 Production Shift Managers. You will own site operations on shift, leading teams to deliver safety, quality, service, cost and productivity improvements.

The roles include PM shift (Mon-Fri 2pm-10pm) or Night shift (Mon-Sat 10pm-6am) with attractive salary and bonus/shift allowances. This is a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced factory environment.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or similar.
• Experience managing teams and driving performance through coaching and development.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, GMP and health & safety requirements.
• Experience delivering continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage manufacturing operations during shift.
• Drive a culture of health & safety, food safety and GMP compliance.
• Manage and develop production teams, ensuring engagement and performance.
• Deliver production plans while meeting quality, efficiency and waste targets.
• Monitor KPIs including productivity, labour utilisation and material usage.
• Support continuous improvement and operational excellence across the factory.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues with corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Technical, Engineering and other departments for smooth operations.

Alexander Steele are supporting a successful food manufacturing business in their search for 2x Production Shift Managers.

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10pm (PM SHIFT)

Salary: Up to £45,000 plus 7.5% annual bonus

OR

Shift Pattern: Monday - Saturday, 10pm - 6am (NIGHTSHIFT)

Salary: Up to £45,000 plus 10% Shift allowance plus 7.5% annual bonus

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced food manufacturing leader to take ownership of site operations during shift, leading teams to deliver performance across safety, quality, service, cost and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage manufacturing operations during shift.
• Drive a strong culture of health & safety, food safety and GMP compliance.
• Manage and develop production teams, ensuring high levels of engagement and performance.
• Deliver production plans while meeting quality, efficiency and waste targets.
• Monitor and improve key operational KPIs including productivity, labour utilisation and material usage.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence across the factory.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions where required.
• Work closely with Technical, Engineering and other departments to ensure smooth site operations.

The Candidate

• Proven leadership experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.
• Experience managing teams and driving performance through coaching and development.
• Strong understanding of food safety, GMP and health & safety requirements.
• Experience delivering continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Food Hygiene and HACCP qualifications.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
