Position: Production Services Technician Global
Location: London-UK
Facility: Crafty Apes

Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects house with a strong foothold in features and television.

The Production Services department provides all productions with operational support related to production data health and orchestration, batch rendering, uploads/downloads to and from client, and generally any other front-line technology or logistical support that requires a deep understanding of Crafty’s global pipeline and workflows.

Production Services Technicians collaborate with Producers, Artists, Supervisors, Editorial, Pipeline, and IT to ensure that productions move smoothly throughout the facility.

Because this position has various interactions to all of the different departments during the course of a production, the Production Services Technician is often seen as a growth path into the rest of the studios. Since members of this team are knowledgeable with the processes of the pipeline, they are prime candidates to move into other departments as well.

The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable team player with a great attitude, able to quickly complete assigned tasks, and have troubleshooting and general problem-solving skills. This is an entry-level position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide a consistent and professional level of departmental technical expertise and support to production teams and artists.
2. Secure data management for uploads and downloads of data/assets/deliveries.
3. Communicate with clients to assist in receipt of data.
4. Monitor the render farm to keep it operating at maximum efficiency.
5. Communicate and prioritize information with Production and adjust render farm priorities.
6. Maintain and oversee all production-related data, both online (disk) and offline (tape).
7. Monitor critical servers, network and file server load as it affects our workflow.
8. Troubleshoot and problem-solve technical issues as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BA/BS preferred, or work experience.
2. General technical savviness is a must.
3. Working knowledge of Aspera, MediaShuttle, FTPs, Dropbox a plus.
4. Experience with render farm systems and management, a plus.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Flexible and available for extended hours as needed.
7. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with short deadlines.
