Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking a Maintenance Scheduler to join our operations in London. You will liaise with Fleet Planning to develop and deliver the operational maintenance schedule for IEP/WOE Class 800/2 fleets, ensuring tasks are prioritised and resourced effectively.

This role requires experience in scheduling maintenance, strong organisational skills, and proficiency with CMMS tools (SAP, Maximo or Equinox).

Qualifications

  • Essential licences / competences: Previous experience of scheduling maintenance and production.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think quickly.
  • Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – SAP, Maximo or Equinox.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on the local daily and weekly maintenance plan for the Train Maintenance Centre (TMC) to develop and refine the maintenance schedule for the IEP/WOE Class 800/2 fleets.
  • Review, prioritise and schedule maintenance tasks with Team Leaders & Fleet Planning in line with maintenance plan priorities.
  • Identify restrictions & resource capacity that could affect delivery of the maintenance plan and work to mitigate them.
  • Coordinate with Fleet Planning to reduce the effect of any restrictions and ensure material availability in SAP.
  • Monitor the backlog of defects and reduce reactive maintenance to improve reliability.
  • Be reactive to incidents and amend the maintenance schedule accordingly; record decisions for improvement.

Your New Role

Working on a shift basis based (days & afters) at the TMC you will be responsible for liaising with Fleet Planning to develop and deliver the operational maintenance schedule with the necessary information to allow the effective and efficient execution of rolling stock maintenance in accordance with contractual requirements.

What you’ll be doing
  • Focus on the local daily and weekly maintenance plan for the Train Maintenance centre (TMC) in order to develop and continually refine the maintenance schedule for the IEP/WOE Class 800/2 fleets.
  • Review, prioritise and schedule maintenance tasks with the Team Leaders & Fleet Planning in accordance with maintenance plan priorities.
  • Identify any restrictions & resource capacity that could affect the delivery of the maintenance plan.
  • Work with the local management and Fleet Planning to reduce the effect of the restriction.
  • Review SAP notification, ensuring material demands are in place, & coordinate with Material colleges to ensure correct stock of material.
  • Identify, coordinate and leverage resources to enable the maintenance schedule including the technical information and any material required.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors and external repair agencies into the maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor the backlog of defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
  • Be reactive to incidents, disruptions and emergencies on the operational railway and amend the maintenance schedule accordingly; record decisions to drive improvement.
  • Ensure defects in-service and emerging work is incorporated into the maintenance schedule.
  • Liaise with Fleet Planning, the Duty Shift Manager (DSM) and Team Leaders (TL) to agree the maintenance plan to be executed.
  • Administer and manage technical investigations to ensure timely resolution.
  • Utilise the SAP Maintenance Management System (MMS) and other IT applications in order to inform and develop the workload plan.
  • Ensuring SOROS is accurate at all times.
  • Review of all defects and correct coding in SAP in line with IEP/WOE contractual obligations.
  • Prepare reports and give verbal briefs as required.
  • Participate in the daily conference calls & planning meetings.
  • Act as the SAP super user for the TMC.
  • Co-ordinate with the Training Department to plan training and assessment while maintaining resource requirements.
  • Promote, support and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Production Planning Manager.
