Our client in the rail sector is looking to recruit a Production Scheduler to be based on site at their raikway engineering works in Acton Town.
Rate: £26.27 paye + 16.59% holiday or £35.59 Umbrella per hour
35 hours per week
This role is on site 5 days per week, Mon - Fri

7.15 am to 3.15 pm Mon- Thurs and 7.15am - 12.15pm on Fridays
Production Scheduler:
Below are the typical tasks that we would like the production scheduler to carry out.
The role require a presence on the shop floor and stores etc:
- Maintain Excel spreadsheets including collecting data for entry e.g. train records and serial numbers etc.
- o Use of SAP for Check stock and material availability
- Raise pick lists
- Raise Production Works orders
- Despatch orders
- Enter Timesheet allocations
- Create shopping carts
- General admin duties
- Liaise with other departments for required information on materials equipment etc
- Assist in organising work areas for optimum production flow
This is not an exhaustive list but gives an insight on typical tasks.
Post holder is responsible for assisting in the development of weekly Production Schedules ensuring that customers' material requirements are adhered to in conjunction with Production Managers and Chargehands. Is also responsible for ensuring that accurate information is fed back to Fleet Planners and Store Persons to allow the smooth running of maintenance activities and enable them to be completed on time and to plan.
Key Accountabilities
- Produce performance reports and updates in MS Word or Excel, based on information supplied by Production and Planning Managers, and ensure they have the relevant information required for meetings.
- Handle incoming customer inquiries relating to the Railway Engineering Wokshops operations dealing personally with routine correspondence and referring specialist inquiries to the Planning Manager.
- Input data from shop floor time sheets onto the SAP Manufacturing System accurately and in a timely manner whilst maintaining a comprehensive filing system so data can be easily retrieved, should it be required at a later date for reference purposes.
- Administration support to the SAP Manufacturing System by raising of Sales Orders and Production Work Orders and day to day updating of relevant delivery information.
- Print production documents such as Pick lists, Travelers and associated documents from the SAP Production Control System.
- Update Visualization boards in readiness of daily visualization meeting for the Management Team to discuss and review performance against schedule.
- Monitor customer stock levels ensuring that they are maintained to minimize the occurrence of nil stocks which would impact on train availability.
- Download and manipulate Customer Order book data from the SAP Manufacturing System and produce MS Excel spread
Knowledge and Skills
- Competent IT skills - Good knowledge and practical application of MS Office e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook (Microsoft Project would be desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of the SAP system particularly SAP Manufacturing Solution (raising of Sales Orders and Production Works Orders), Timesheet entries and printing of production paperwork.
- Basic awareness of Health and Safety in a production environment.
- Strong communication, liaison and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills coupled with the ability to multi-task.
