Qualifications

Production & Repair Operator – (R0260186)

Location: Templecombe

Hours: 4-day week, Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week

The Role

Thales Underwater Systems delivers advanced Sonar capabilities for UK and international navies. Our systems are developed for significant defence projects, including the Astute and Dreadnought class submarines, Merlin helicopters, Type 23 frigates, and Hunt class mine countermeasures vessels.

As a Thales Production Repair Operator, you will be a key member of our manufacturing team at Templecombe, producing next-generation Sonar technologies. This role offers an opportunity to enhance your technical skills and build a successful career with a leader in the field. Full training and support will be provided, and there is potential for career progression.

Candidates with some practical experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, or relevant qualifications such as BTEC, NVQ, or similar, will be considered if they demonstrate drive and potential.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Manufacture of Conformal Panels according to engineering drawings and standards
  • Log and escalate quality non-conformances
  • Ensure timely delivery (OTD) and meet planning requirements
  • Escalate blockers and issues to the Layer Leader
  • Follow Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and COSHH guidance; log incidents appropriately
  • Maintain 5S standards in the workplace
Your Skills and Experience
  • Ability to interpret build packs
  • Good communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Customer focus and innovation mindset
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Level 2 BTEC, NVQ, ONC, City and Guilds Electrical, or equivalent
  • Alternatively, 3+ years practical Operator experience can substitute formal qualifications
