Job description

Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for a Production Process Technician to join our highly regarded Production Department to monitor, operate, maintain and optimise our production assets. This role is key in ensuring delivery of safe and wholesome drinking water to our consumers.

Responsibilities include visiting water treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs to carry out essential duties and monitor the performance and operability of our assets. The successful candidate will assist with optimising the operation of our production assets to ensure that water quality continues to meet all internal standards and statutory requirements at each treatment stage, whilst optimising energy, quality and performance.

The role also involves providing support to colleagues in the field where complex process issues arise and investigating the root cause of water quality and process issues, advising on corrective actions. Operating and maintaining treatment works assets, monitoring, recording and interpreting water samples to ensure treatment process are working effectively is also a key part of the job.

The ideal candidate will have an industry water operations related qualification, such as a CABWI Level 4 in Water Operations, and a National Water Hygiene (Blue) Card/SHEA Water. They will also have an advanced understanding of water treatment and distribution processes, and the regulations that govern them.

Other requirements include experience working with SCADA/HMI process control systems, chemicals, and COSHH awareness. Excellent report-writing skills, with an emphasis on clarity and attention to detail, are also essential.
