Job description

Owen Daniels are working with a well-established, forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing organisation to recruit a Quality Engineer to join their Rugby-based operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with a strong background in quality and production engineering to play a key role in maintaining and improving robust quality standards within a complex manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of day-to-day quality activities, ensuring processes are consistently followed and continuously improved. You will be instrumental in driving root cause analysis and leading structured problem‑solving activities across both internal and supplier‑related issues.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, building strong relationships across the business to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) remains effective, compliant, and aligned with operational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures across manufacturing operations
  • Lead the resolution of non‑conformances using structured root cause analysis (e.g. 8D, A3, 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
  • Manage quality documentation, reports, and corrective/preventative action records
  • Support APQP activities, FMEA processes, and the development of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Monitor key quality metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to operational teams on quality standards and best practices
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to reduce defects and improve performance
About You
  • Background in mechanical or electrical engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment, including inspection and measurement techniques
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Proven experience applying root cause analysis tools (8D essential) to resolve quality issues
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and auditing practices
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Hands‑on, practical approach with strong problem‑solving capability
  • Comfortable working with IT systems, including Microsoft Office and ERP platforms
