Job summary

Müller UK & Ireland is offering a 13‑month Production Planning Internship in Market Drayton, starting July 2027. You will work with experienced planners to translate customer demand into production plans, balancing capacity, stock and shelf life while gaining cross‑functional exposure across Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality.

The role develops practical Excel, reporting and data analysis skills, with on‑site hours 8am–4pm, Monday–Friday and a minimum of 3 days on site per week.

Whatyou'llbe doing:

This placement offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience. The Production Planning Intern will work alongside experienced planners to learn how customer demand is converted into clear, practical production plans. The role will support the team in balancing demand with production capacity, stock requirements, product shelf life, quality requirements and operational constraints.

The intern will gain practical experience across Production Planning and work with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics and Quality. Responsibilities will increase as their knowledge, capability and confidence develop.

Key tasks & responsibilities include:

Production Planning Support

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of daily and weekly production plans using planning tools.
• Check planning information for accuracy and highlight errors, gaps or anything that does not look right.
• Support planners when plans need to change because of demand changes, operational issues or production constraints.
• Help keep planning information clear, accurate and up to date.
• Learn how customer demand is balanced against factory capacity, stock requirements and operational limitations.

Data Analysis, Reporting and Master Data

• Update routine planning and performance reports.
• Check data for errors, gaps and inconsistencies.
• Compare the production plan with actual performance.
• Support investigations into differences between planned and actual results.
• Maintenance of all planning related Master Data
• Use data to help identify trends, recurring issues, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Present information in a clear and easy‑to‑understand format.
• Develop practical Excel, reporting and data analysis skills.

Stock and Inventory Support

• Monitor finished goods and other stock levels.
• Learn how shelf life and best‑before dates affect production decisions.
• Support checks to ensure planning and product information is accurate.
• Help identify potential waste, stock or warehouse capacity risks.
• Learn how product movements between warehouses and sites affect the production plan.

Cross-functional Working

• Work with colleagues across Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain and Quality.
• Attend appropriate daily and weekly operational meetings.
• Help prepare accurate information for meetings and planning discussions.
• Communicate updates clearly and professionally.
• Ability to lead and support in projects
• Learn when and how to raise concerns, elevate risks or ask for support.
• Question processes in a positive and constructive way.
• Suggest simpler or more effective ways of working.
• Help improve spreadsheets, reports and planning tools.
• Support system or process testing when required.
• Share ideas and learning with the wider team.

Whatwe'relooking for:

Müller are looking for confident students with an analytical mindset for this 13‑month placement. We’re seeking university students who are on track to achieve a 2:1 and above and are looking for a placement year role.
