Production Planner (Manufacturing)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Planner to join a leading global provider of advanced subsea and offshore technology, based in North Yorkshire. This facility designs and manufactures world-class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), trenchers, and submarine rescue systems, delivering innovative solutions for challenging deep-water environments.
The Role:
Reporting to the Senior Production Planner, you’ll work closely with Sales, Procurement, and Operations to plan and monitor all areas of production. Your role will be key to driving efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and schedule production using MRP/ERP systems
* Resource and capacity planning, generating work orders and reports
* Liaise with sales, production, and logistics to prioritise workloads
* Monitor KPIs and analyse performance data
* Expedite materials and review shortages to maintain production flow
* Contribute to the creation and delivery of internal SLAs
* Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
About You:
* Strong background in SME manufacturing (not FMCG)
* Proven experience with MRP/ERP systems
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups advantageous)
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
* Exposure to purchasing/procurement activities
* Previous production planning in a manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of manufacturing resource/materials requirements planning
* Hands-on knowledge of operational performance monitoring
