Production Planner / IT Support

Our client, a well-established, successful manufacturing company based in Thetford, is seeking a Production Planner to join their team.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Thetford.

Key Skills
  • Ability to absorb and understand technical information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with MRP software (LN preferred; training will be provided). Good understanding of server-based systems, IT security, and networks.
  • Strong communication skills to build professional relationships with colleagues in the UK and US.
  • Methodical, systematic approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Tenacious and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Experience in an engineering manufacturing environment is advantageous.
Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager, Senior Production Controller, and manufacturing supervisors to ensure timely and efficient production of heavy products.
  • Generate production orders for in-house manufactured items.
  • Participate in monthly heavy production meetings, comment on material availability and project progress, and produce meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate with Stores to ensure timely delivery of kits for production departments.
  • Liaise with Purchasing to ensure timely collection of subcontractor items.
  • Provide first-line support for emergency IT issues, set up new hardware, and lead the implementation of FactoryTrack software, working closely with the IT team.
  • Assess production priorities with the Production admin team concerning resources and subcontractors.
  • Address material supply issues, research problems, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist with all production planning tasks as needed.
  • Work with the Production admin team to ensure timely completion and closure of production orders, minimizing material variances, and maintaining accurate data.

Production is central to our client's business, involving everything from raw material management to ensuring sufficient labor and materials to meet output targets. The role involves monitoring material and fabrication statuses, ensuring prompt and accurate supply, and working closely with the Senior Production Controller. The person will also provide frontline IT support.
