Job description

Hours: 8.15am - 4.30pm

We have a new opportunity to join our planning.

Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA) sits uniquely as the only single sited forge with open-die radial, press, hammer & ring rolling and closed-die extrusion, drop stamp and blade forging in the world. Over the last few years we have invested in the business and have successfully doubled our turnover. We are looking to continue this growth and are looking to add to our established team.

Due to this continued investment and growth, we are looking to add to our Planning team and are looking for an experienced Planner with a strong background working in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally with experience within the Aerospace, Power Generation or Automotive sectors.

Main Purpose of the Role

Working as part of our Planning team, working closely with our Production and commercial teams to ensure the best efficiency in planning and manufacturing processes. Looking for opportunities to improve our performance and working as part of a multi-skilled team.

A Typical Day May Include

Working with other departments including Quality, Production, Technical and Commercial to ensure effective planning and production to ensure targets are met and exceeded, also looking for ways to improve processes and communication.

  • Implement and maintain the computerised planning system to maintain departmental production schedules, forecast sales, customer update information.
  • Liaise daily with production departments to ensure the plan is maintained or issues are reported and acted on appropriately.
  • Manage and expedite orders from order receipt to dispatch, including communication with NPI teams and processes prior to production.
  • Work with the wider production control team to ensure all ancillary functions are kept at an appropriate standard - including stock control, management of sub-contractors, liaising with customers and continuous improvement projects covering a wide range of activities.

Along with customer communication around quality documentation and requirements, you should have:

  • Experience of working in a planning department within a high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally within metals manufacturing, including Aerospace, Automotive, Power generation sectors.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and windows-based data systems.
  • A good understanding of production processes along with the commercial aspects.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
