Job summary

A global dairy leader is seeking a Bagging & Warehouse Operator in Devon and Torbay. This role involves operating processing equipment, packaging products, and ensuring quality standards. Candidates should possess a Counterbalance FLT Licence and preferably have production experience. Full training will be provided. The position offers a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule with a focus on maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.

Qualifications

  • Own a transport preferred due to location of site.
  • Previous production experience preferred but not essential, full training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Operate processing equipment for bagging.
  • Package and dispatch finished product.
  • Ensure department log sheets are filled out accurately.
  • Monitor the process to ensure department KPIs are achieved.
  • Maintain a hygienic environment for audits.

AFI Taw Valley produces 18000 tons of permeate powder and 4000 tons of whey protein concentrate using membrane, evaporator and spray drying technology. Our customers use the products as ingredients in foods and dry blend products, and therefore we have high demands for quality and food safety.

It’s a fast-paced site and the Bagging & Warehouse operator role will involve working a 4 days on 4 days off shift basis (Days only, 06:00-18:00)., Your main responsibilities will be:

Specific tasks:

  • Operate processing equipment to bag demineralized, dry blend, permeate powder into 25kg bags and (1 tonne) mini bulk bags.
  • Package & dispatch finished product. Loading onto curtain side trailers using counterbalance fork lift truck.
  • Ensure that department log sheets are filled out accurately and in full.
  • Process SAP orders for finished product.
  • Monitoring the process to ensure department KPI’s are achieved
  • Work with engineers and other members of the team to reduce lost time due to breakdowns.
  • Cleaning/housekeeping to maintain a hygienic and food safe environment, and to be audit ready at all times.
  • Record & Report Process Deviations to the Production Team Leader.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses, risk observations, environmental observations and behavioural safety observations.
  • Complete mandatory training modules.

Essential job required training:

  • Counterbalance Fork lift Truck (FLT) Licence
  • SAP applications and label printing
  • Batch data & best before date accuracy
  • Process equipment – 25kg & 1 tonne bagging machines
  • Production log sheets. Microsoft Applications (Word & Excel).
  • Food Safety and Quality (HACCP Level 1 minimum)

Preferred/optional training:

  • First Aid
  • Ability to self-motivate and take responsibility for own tasks.
  • Ability to work in an organized and methodical manner, following company procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment towards production requirements.
  • Key safe behaviors, see it, sort it, report it .
  • Good communication skills and ability to form good working relationships with team members.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Positive mindset.
