Operator Pay: $21.00 hourly with $1.50 Shift Differential

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday; 2nd shift (2pm - 10:30pm); Must be flexible to move to 3rd shift 10pm - 6:30am; Overtime as needed.

Job Purpose

Executes assigned production tasks in accordance with procedures, to ensure right levels of HSE, Quality, Service and costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Takes ownership of production assets and ensures they are operated safely and as per established procedures, guidelines and industry good practice
  • Performs daily production, preventative maintenance, process data collection and administration tasks as per procedures and control systems.
  • Reports safety, quality or other issues related to products or production processes to Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensures all (shift team) production targets are met whilst ensuring the appropriate quality standards are maintained.
  • Issues CAR, respectively Hazard report when any relevant issue is noticed, regardless of location or responsible department.
  • Provides progress updates to the Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.
  • Attends and contributes to meetings.
  • Contributes to the investigation of HSE or quality issues, e.g., customer complaints, reject batches or other quality-related issues.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement activities & programs for HSE, Quality, ALPS or other as may be assigned from time to time. Contributes to color adjustment activities, where applicable, in line with agreed procedures and control systems.
  • Familiar and compliant with all applicable corporate, site, and laboratory policies/procedures regarding personal conduct, HSE, and Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) standards.
Key Activities
Tank wash
  • Clean portable tanks, valves, filters, pumps, and other equipment using cleaning chemicals, pressure washers, brushers, scrapers, and other cleaning tools
  • Operate the automated tank washer machine
  • Clean portable tanks with the pressure washer
  • Perform area housekeeping duties as per expectations
  • Other duties as needed to complete the production process
Pre-kit
  • Maintain storage of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods while obtaining materials needed for batch makers, adjusters, tinters, and fill-off as needed by production following all safety guidelines and procedures
  • Operate forklift as needed to move materials
  • Coordinate with the operator to operate and inspect forklift daily and turn in inspection forms
  • Batch makers will order materials needed to make batch from material coordinator or warehouse
  • Deliver materials to a designated area for the batch maker
  • Return remaining material to its original location or dispose/recondition empty containers
  • Assist fill-off operator in obtaining proper containers for batches being filled off
  • Transport finished goods to shipping, store intermediates appropriately, and manage overages
  • Take hazardous waste containers to the accumulation area, label, and date them
  • Keep yards and storage areas neat and clean
  • Remove all trash and rags from the building at the end of the shift
  • Move to other trained production tasks as needed
  • Other duties as needed to complete the production process
Material Coordinator
  • Maintain storage of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods while obtaining materials needed for batch makers, adjusters, tinters, and fill-off as needed by production following all safety guidelines and procedures
  • Operate forklift as needed to move materials
  • Coordinate with the operator to operate and inspect forklift daily and turn in inspection forms
  • Order materials needed for batches from the material coordinator or warehouse
  • Deliver materials to designated areas for batch making
  • Return excess materials or dispose of containers properly
  • Assist fill-off operator in obtaining proper containers for batches
  • Transport finished goods to shipping, store intermediates, and manage overages
  • Manage hazardous waste containers appropriately
  • Maintain neat and clean yards and storage areas
  • Remove all trash and rags from the building at the end of the shift
  • Move to other trained production tasks as needed
Key Activities cont.
Fill Off
  • Transfer products into containers, label, and document according to safety procedures
  • Fill approved batches into appropriate containers, measure for yield
  • Check for leaks, complete batch tickets, label, and send to shipping
  • Dispose of filters, clean equipment, and stage cleaning materials properly
Batch Making
  • Add raw materials as per batch ticket, weigh/measures for accuracy
  • Coordinate with QC for sample testing and make necessary adjustments
  • Maintain housekeeping standards
  • Move to other tasks as trained
Milling/Grinding Operation
  • Operate machine controls, set up and break down mill, inspect for wear
  • Demonstrate competency in lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • Handle materials and understand color development and fineness checks
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Preferred experience in paint manufacturing or related field
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety instructions
  • Forklift certification and operation skills
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work in various environments, and stand or walk for long periods
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize
  • Safety-conscious with ability to climb stairs and work in hot/cold environments
