Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a business segment of Element Solutions Inc, is hiring Production Operators for our Wantage site in Oxfordshire. You will work in the conversion department on a three-shift pattern (early, late, nights) supporting the manufacture of advanced electronics worldwide.

We offer a starting salary of £30,946 with shift allowance, annual bonus, overtime opportunities, private medical insurance, a pension scheme and on-site facilities.

Qualifications

• Production experience preferred but not required. Training provided.
• Knowledge of basic chemical production processes and equipment is a plus.
• Awareness of safety and regulatory requirements (COSHH) is important.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot production equipment.
• Understanding of quality control and documentation procedures.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks and long shifts.
• Formal education or training in manufacturing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate in a three-shift system (early, late, night) in the conversion department.
• Operate forklift where applicable and handle production equipment safely.
• Follow Health, Safety and Environmental policies and report issues.
• Complete production records accurately and use SAP/SFoL for transactions.
• Support continuous improvement activities (5S) and training of new starters.

Role

We have fantastic opportunities for Production Operators to join us at our manufacturing site in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

Working in one of the three areas of our production facility - Conversion on a rotating 3 shift pattern (Earlies, lates and nights), you will play a key part in the manufacture of technological products for our worldwide business.

Previous production experience isn't necessary, we offer full training and the opportunity to progress your career.

We'd love to hear from you if you've got previous work experience gained in other industries such as retail or warehousing. We’re looking for keen, ambitious individuals who would like to apply their previous experience in our production facility.

What you will be doing

Our production areas in conversion department work on a system of three rotating shifts, incorporating early, late and night shifts from Monday through to Friday.

• Operate a pedestrian and / or high lift forklift truck where applicable.
• Operate machinery in accordance with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company Health and Safety Policies.
• Report defective equipment. Report all accidents and breakages.
• Carry out QC tests / inspection where appropriate and report any deviations to the Supervisor.
• Report safety and quality issues through the 1B and 1Q systems.
• Report all production transactions to SAP / SFoL in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accurate stock.
• Carry out on the job training of new starters when fully trained and competent, necessary to further the development of the Dept and the individual.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 5S.
• Generate ideas and participate in implementing to make improvements to theDept.

What competencies will you need?

• Production Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment is preferred.
• Process Understanding: Basic knowledge of chemical production processes and equipment operation.
• Safety & Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with chemical safety, PPE use, and regulatory requirements (e.g., COSHH).
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment.
• Quality Focus: Understanding of quality control principles and the importance of product consistency.
• Documentation Skills: Ability to accurately complete production records and follow written procedures.
• Physical Fitness: Capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions.
• Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in chemical processing or manufacturing are a plus.
