Job description

Axsim is a prestigious Motorsport Simulation manufacturer who has recently opened a brand new facility in Elms Farm industrial estate, Bedford. The company, a sister company to Cranfield Aerospace Solutions, has gone from strength to strength and has gained an impressive order book to scale its manufacturing of Motorsport Simulator products sold to business and high net worth individuals.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the manufacture, assembly and testing of Motorsport Simulation products in accordance with design drawings and specifications. Follow existing and suggest and develop new procedures, processes, and standards in the simulation workshop environment that may improve the smooth and speedy progression of projects through the workshop. Responsible for coordinating final inspection and testing of all products prior to release to customer.
  • Assist with general duties associated with maintaining the facilities and workshops.
  • Assembly of motorsport simulation products in accordance with design drawings and specifications, completing products to budget, schedule and quality standards.
  • To check and sign-off mechanical drawings provided by design team for accuracy and ease of assembly.
  • To manage the Bill of Materials for the simulators and ensure that parts are ordered and available in line with build schedules.
  • To work to Design drawings, raising Workshop/Technical Query Notices when necessary.
  • To carry out all tasks in accordance with approved data.
  • To assist with Kitting for future/current shifts.
  • Adept with hand tools and light assembly tools (Sockets, Spanners, Drills, Torque Wrenches).
  • Follow existing procedures, processes and standards in the simulation workshop environment.
  • Support the development of revised or new processes and procedures which support improvements to manufacturing schedules, budgets and quality.
  • Coordinate the final inspection and testing of all simulation products prior to release to customer.
  • Maintain records of product build and release standards.
  • Maintain a workshop facility which provides a clean, tidy, safe and efficient place to work, looking for continuous improvement opportunities and health and safety requirements are maintained.
  • Ad-hoc support to off-site customer delivery and installation as required and agreed with the business.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager.
KEY REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/BEHAVIOURS)
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical assembly tools and processes.
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation.
  • Organised and methodical in both following and developing build instructions.
  • Able to manage your time and prioritise tasks accordingly.
  • Ability to self-check own work and reliably check the work of others.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to interact effectively with the AXSIM team members, with customers and suppliers.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and proactive approach to team working.
  • To be able to grow into supervisory, team leader roles as the production team expands.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED/ EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • BTEC National Certificate, HND, HNC, NVQ or equivalent in engineering and/or IT.
  • Knowledge of motorsport, automotive simulation / e-sports market.
  • Background in engineering and/or production.
